First, let me admit that I was never a Jackson 5 or Michael Jackson fan as I just casually admired their music. Since the book was written be Jermaine Jackson I thought the book would be a totally biased "puff piece" but is was not. It is biased which is natural for a brother to defend his brother. But beyond this, the book shows the negative side of Papa Joseph Jackson's dominance of the family in the early years. The author also writes about many of the inter family squabbles over the years. So, I do believed the book was worth reading and it did give me a more sympathetic outlook toward Michael's struggles and a greater appreciation for his art, his work ethic and his charitable nature.
