Sizer looks at ten individuals hailing from Texas who accumulated large fortunes. These include Ross Perot, Howard Hughes, Mary Kay (of the cosmetic company) and Oveta Culp Hobby. Hobby is the only person included in the book that is of interest to us, and the individual who donated the book to us, Pat Jernigan (Col. USA Ret.) declares that the chapter on Hobby is very poorly researched and written. As there is no other biography of Hobby available, this one may unfortunately be relied on more than it deserves to be.

Angel's Caress is a historical (Civil War era) romance with a paranormal twist. The heroine's (Ellie) farm is taken over by the Union army for a period of time and her stepmother, step-grandpa and step-siblings and her have to take refuge in their barn. Ellie is a healer, like her deceased mother, and she has an uncle who lives in the mountains that she sees occasionally. Her father is a Confederate soldier, off fighting somewhere. The hero, Cash, is somewhat sympathetic to their plight, unlike the rest of his unit, and helps her now and then. Cash comes upon Ellie in the field trying to scrape up some used corn from the horse feed, to give to her now starving family and he knocks it out of her hand. They struggle, the struggle excites him and he takes her against her will. Ellie warns him just prior to the rape, that he will have to live with the consequences, and he agrees. Little does he know, that upon breaking her virgin barrier, that they will be forever linked psychically.
I thought the first half of the book was much better than the second half, because happenings became more unbelievable in the latter. There was a HEA for the hero and heroine, but no mention of her family's future. The last chapter was very strange, because it was the hero's uncle telling him some unusual family history unknown to the hero, and it seemed like possible prequel material, because it had nothing to do with this story. Also, no epilogue. 2.5-3/5 stars

Great read. Very hard to put down. Bonus points for scarred hero and author kept me guessing. Minus point for old-enough-to-be-her-daddy! 4.75/5

Historical Romance. R+J/ enemy families slant. H, Rhiannon is captured and dragged behind a horse back to the h's fathers castle. She unties him and is taken prisoner in turn. Quite a long patch of travel back to his lands. OK- (which is 2.5/5).
