KuroKoneko Kamen

This starts off a little odd, but you're in the thick of it so quickly that you'll be too wrapped up in the story to think much about it. This was a fun, sexy, genderbend retelling of Peter and Wendy (aka the Peter Pan from many movies). I love how things are flip-flopped, and how Petra is basically forced to grapple with overnight becoming an adult, and all the odd, messy feelings and body changes that come with puberty and growing up. The imagery was excellent, and really dropped you right into Kamen's version of Neverland. Eirwen's been through so much, but his dedication to everything, especially caring for his sisters is heartwarming. The pacing is good, and the action scenes really get your heart going. However, there are some moments that felt uncomfortable to read, and that's why I'm leaving this at a four.… (meer)

What do you get when you combine a cursed teen boy, a cursed yeti, and precious gems? An unforgettable story. This was a genderbend retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and was a lot of fun to read. "Gaston" in this case is a Hunter called Astonia, and she's just as creepy, self-centered, and predatory as Gaston was. I loved both Bellamy and Abigail, they're well-developed characters who find themselves in an impossible situation. The descriptions are vivid, and really bring you right into the heart of the story. I loved Abigail's crystal mansion, it was such a great twist on the Beast's castle. Bellamy's dedication to his mother, and later breaking the curse, was heart-warming. There are definitely moments in this that will make you giggle, and Bellamy has an unusual level of self-awareness for a teen, but being acutely aware of his curse his whole life probably contributed to that. I couldn't wait to dive into the second part of Henry's story, and it was worth the wait! You do need to read part 1, or you'll be a bit confused when diving in. I love the way you're immediately immersed in the world, with vivid descriptions bringing everything to life. The world building is amazing, and the characters have a lot of depth. There's plenty of tension, both sexy and story wise. The plot moves along smoothly, and you'll get so wrapped up in the story you'll find it hard to set it down once you begin reading. If you like slightly twisted, steamy fairy tale retellings, then this duet is something you'll want to grab!… (meer)

A dark, twisty, steamy fairy tale. The images included are beautiful, and really add to the story. The story is quite descriptive at times - and definitely gets steamy at times. Having read Reincarnated as the Frog Prince, (although you don't need to), I really enjoyed seeing the story from Henry's perspective. Henry faced so much discrimination for being who he is, and he didn't let it break his spirit. The story is well-written, and moves along smoothly at a good pace. If you enjoy fairy tale retellings with a twist, and don’t mind some dark moments, you’re going to enjoy this. I can’t wait to read part two!… (meer)
