I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This is book 4 of the King Series. In this portion we see Tasmyn back with Michael. They are both attending Perriman and working towards a future together. Tasmyn is learning to control the new aspects of her powers, sometimes not very well. She’s offered a job by group the works with special people like her to help others, and they’ve also agreed to teach her how to control her newer powers. This is like a dream come true… But true to form, Tasmyn ends up in the middle of an ugly feud when Nell’s father is accused of murder.

Once again Tawdra Kandle does not disappoint! I was drawn in from page one. I love the way Tasmyn was written, she accepts these gifts she has and doesn’t see it as a curse or burden. Michael is the sweetest boyfriend ever! This was fun book, there’s only one thing I didn’t really like and that was that this series is over. I fell in love with the main characters and wanted to watch them grow old together. This series is a must read for every paranormal romance lover!

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Once again, I'm completely swept away by Tawdra Kandle's new Serendipity series. This series follows the characters from the King series. In book one, we catch up with Rafe at the end of his senior year of high school. He'd been through so much with Tasmyn, that I'm sure you'd have expected Tasmyn to finally be with him.

On a quest to mend his broken heart, Rafe has decided to spend his summer travelling while he sorts out what path he wants to take with his life. When he arrives in New Orleans, he feels a kinship with the city and meets the drop dead gorgeous Jocelyn. This is where the adventure really begins...

I was so excited to hear that there was this series in the works. I hated to see the King Series end, the characters became fast friends and I was sad to see them go. I loved being a "fly on the wall", popping into Rafe' s world as he once again becomes involved in something dangerous and experiences falling in love for real. Even though I was a bit jealous that Rafe finally had someone, I was really thrilled he was finally able to move on. Tawdra weaves an amazing tale that keeps you on the edge of your seat, dying to find out what happens next. This story was absolutely brilliant and I'm dying to read book two!

Fearless by Tawdra Kandle
Book 1 of the King series. YA paranormal romance.
Tasmyn is the new kid in school trying to make friends. She’s promised her parents she will keep her mind reading ability under wraps but when boyfriend Michael makes a guess, Tas confirms her ability. Something sinister seems to threatening the small Florida town and the two investigate as they grow closer to each other.

A bit slow to start with a lot of cliches, but once you get past the teen love at first sight, the nasty Nell is worthy of following. Additional support of friends and school situations as well as meeting of the parents fill out the story with hints of what’s to come in rest of the series. Not a cliffhanger but not everything has been answered.
An adventure that kept me reading. I will be reading more of this series, probably with the next year’s reading challenge.

*This is a review of Playing By Heart by Sylvie Stewart - part of the Holiday Heart-On Anthology.

Cute and sweet
5 stars

I’m a big fan of Sylvie Stewart - she’s great at filling her stories with a combination of comedy and likeable, relatable characters. While this is the first short story of hers I’ve read - she still manages to make it everything I hoped and expected. But that’s not to say it didn’t leave me wanting more - but in the best possible way.

At a Christmas in July pet pageant (I mean, why the hell not?) Kat luck turns around when her crush turns up with his adorable dog. Better yet, he’s in a bind and the only one who can help him out, is Kat! And cue the music!

I liked both our characters instantly and they have the cutest chemistry. It’s quite nice to read a story with such innocent smittenness. It’s not that the story is innocent (although there’s only kissing), it’s just that they’re so totally adorable that it feels fresh.

For such a short story, I still definitely believed in their connection. Of course I wanted more. And of course I wish it was longer. But I was sucked in immediately and was left satisfied and with a smile on my face. I couldn’t ask for much more.

I loved these three stories, tenuously linked by a small-town location and shared characters. They are romantic and sweet and tender, but also provide the reader with hints of a wider range of stories available without spoiling their enjoyment of these three. Recommended.

Fifty Frogs by Tawdra Kandle
Contemporary romantic comedy.
Vivian is sick of dating. Her aunt has a theory that a girl must kiss a lot of frogs to find their prince. Vivian starts a dating project where each date ends with a kiss. She will write about her experience for the local paper. Charlie is number 5.

Cute and fun. Vivian and Charlie have a lot of chemistry and a lot in common. Even though Vivian is sick of dating, she is beautiful and attracts dates easily.
The premise was entertaining with an overall feeling of happiness.½

Let's get this out of the way up front: I can hear minds. And yes, that's about as much fun as it sounds. As long as I can remember, I've been the loner, the crazy girl who answers words that no one has spoken out loud. It doesn't help that I'm the perennial new kid in town, too; my family moves around so much that I'm constantly learning how to tune out a fresh set of voices.

But then we move to King, Florida.

It doesn't take me long to realize that this town is different. King was founded by magic and steeped in mystery, and I'd be intrigued if I wasn't worried about surviving.

Informed Consent by Tawdra Kandle

1st in the Diagnosis Love trilogy. Contemporary romance. Cliffhanger. Alternating chapters in first person point of view of Emma and Deacon.
All three books are centered around the same couple so unlike a traditional romance, the hea is not complete in this first book.
Emma and Deacon are doctors on an oncology hospital. While their methods may vary, they both have the patients best interest at heart. Their initial interaction was rocky but soon Mr Foxy wanted Emma in a non professional way that had nothing to do her with doctor skills.

Emma bought what she thought would be a modern modular house. What she got was an old trailer no running water, no internal walls, no shower. There was no electricity and a bucket underneath it for a composting toilet. All this loveliness in Florida. I kept thinking, how is she sleeping in that heat without air conditioning. How is she showering with water that must be brought in? Is that water being recycled or does she have to buy another five gallons of water everyday for the shower? Are camping lights really sufficient for long term use?

Several text language missteps. Subtle ones. Way too many commas.

Engrossing romance but devastating cliffhanger. Slow build with heat at the end. I know the next book is only a week away. I may forgive the author after I read the last of the trilogy but at the moment I’m simply devastated.

The Plan by Tawdra Kandle

Contemporary romance. 2nd book in the Crystal Cove series. Can be read as a standalone romance. I haven’t read the first book but the friendship formed were well prior to the series so I didn’t feel like I missed much although it was a lot of people to keep track of. There is a lot of background and history included in the first 50 or so pages. I lost track once or twice where we were in time.
Alternating first person POV by Emmy and Cooper.

Cooper is commitment shy. His past two relationships have made him decide he is not a people person. Emmy doesn’t have time for a romance but she’s always had a crush on Cooper. When he steps in to support her at the bar and then ask to go home with her, she decides to have that one time fling.

Friendships and family make this romantic story a lovey read. A few sexy scenes add a bit of spice. A feel good happily ever after.

Hot Beach Romance: Sand, Sunshine and Sizzle Anthology
Reviewed by (Isha Coleman) for Candid Book Reviews

Hot Beach is an eclectic variety of love stories. Ranging from hot and sultry to emotional and heartbreaking or just light comedic romance there is something for every romance reader. A great deal with 15 stories from various authors that are all entertaining reads. I received an ARC of Hot Beach for an honest review. Am a fan of historical romance and although I read contemporary there are only certain authors that appeal to me. So for me to enjoy a book of authors that are not familiar to me is rare.

After reading the third book in this series, I am now convinced this is one of the best young adult paranormal series I have read to date. Things have certainly gotten a little darker for Tasmyn and Rafe a new rival for her affections also gives a new dynamic to the story. Some really great back round explored history and the villain who begins to show her true colors takes this segment to new and exciting heights. Just like magic I'm lured in!

An excellent sequel to the first book in this series. You are once again back in King with Tasmyn who no longer is the new girl but still trying to fit in. You feel her heartbreak at being apart from her boyfriend who has gone to college and after the disaster in the first book her fear of trust. She desperately just wants to be normal and fit in. I liked the down to earth character and her good heart won me over once again in this book. Some excitement towards the end that turns the story into a thriller and I'm definitely looking forward to the next segment.

I always try my best to keep in mind that when reading material that is intended for young adult that it is just that. It is infused with the occult which is a heavy topic but gives a really unique edge to the story and kept me on the edge . I loved the heroine and her strength which comes across to the reader. The author captures the emotions of being the new girl quite well. Overall I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

In this fourth and final book of this series, Tasmyn has graduated high school and is now attending college. We see she is still true to her heart but certainly grown up a lot since the first book and not quite as naïve and trusting. She is also back together with Michael and I can not say enough how pleased I am about that. The high school sweethearts have definitely won me over. No matter how many foes are sent her way, she manages to defeat them in the ultimate good vs. evil battle. Always sticking to her guns and well... she's an awesome character. This story had a very interesting twist which steered it in a slightly different direction than the previous ones. I found it not quite as thrilling as the others but never the less very good. Easy to get caught up in the whole series which is a must read for young adult readers.

Lance has no idea what he is when he moves next door to Jackie. As she tries to figure out what her neighbor's story is, she is also trying to decide if they should date since they are the only two not of retirement age in the retirement community. Humor defines their interactions as Lance is jumpy and Jackie is wondering. Then murder occurs.

I enjoyed this story and the characters. The retirement community crowd are funny as they try to hook up Lance and Jackie. Watching Lance and Jackie trying to figure each other out, especially Lance, made me laugh. He was freaked and Jackie clueless. The murder was not the biggest story line. It was the start of the relationship between Lance and Jackie as well as what happened with Lance before Jackie met him. This is a good set-up for the series.

Ava thought she had her life all figured out. To study hard, no partying, heavy drinking, or boys. She needed to keep her grades up and stick to her path in order to be successful. At least, that was the plan until Liam walked into her life.

Julia is Ava's best friend and college roommate. Julie was harshly dumped by her then boyfriend Liam. Julia, Ava and their friend Gift, had a plan to make Liam jealous and want Julia back. Yeah that worked really well...not!

Liam has always been attracted to Ava, but kept his distance even after he and Julia parted ways. That is, until a visit to Ava's dorm to tell her about the gossip regarding Julia. An accidental kiss starts an attraction to her best friend's ex she cannot deny. Who can? I mean he's sexy, smart, funny, sexy, athletic, and did I mention sexy?

Just Desserts is an awesome New Adult Romance. The characters are so easy to identify with; from living you life to your parents' expectations to having a broken heart. You can completely understand Ava's hesitation in following her heart and not only breaking the girl code but also detouring from her path. I thought it was so beautiful that Liam waited patiently for Ava. This is a fantastic story I'm sure will touch your heart.

Awhile back I had the lovely chance to review Fearless by Tawdra Kandle. This story is the first in the King series, and I highly recommend it be read prior to Breathless. Be forewarned that my review below will contain spoilers of the first book, so continue reading at your own risk!

Breathless picks up at the end of summer vacation. Tas and Michael are about to embark on the biggest challenge their relationship has ever faced, even more challenging than when Nell tried to kill them both that fateful night in the clearing. The young couple is being separated as Michael is heading off to college while Tas remains to start her senior year of school. Can the couple make it, being hours apart, and having only the telephone for communication?

But all is not well within King. The strangeness begins when Tas begins to have dreams of Nell. However, the dreams are not of the past, but Nell is warning her to stay away from their old Chemistry teacher. Should she heed the warnings of her dreams? Or is Tas having these dreams as a way of making sense of what happened?

I will always have a soft-spot for this series, and I hope to be able to follow it all the way through to its end. Tawdra has a way with developing her characters, and if you didn't read my review of Fearless, please do as I touch on it in my interview with her. Breathless was much like a stepping stone. It had its own story, but it answered a lot of questions and background that remained from Fearless. Of course it also left some new questions, but the kind that leaves you craving the next book.

I look forward to following Tas, Michael, and their families along with the new addition of Rafe. Ms. Lacusta is another character that I'm dying to see unfold. Is she really good, like Tas, or is there still a sinister side we have yet to really see? I also doubt we've seen the last of my favorite crazy villain, Nell.

I've had the pleasure to follow along with this series from the beginning and each book keeps getting better. This one is one of my favorites as we really see Tas blossom from the scared, quiet girl and really come into herself.

However, there are major consequences to the decisions she makes. She learns that they affect more than herself as she rips apart lives, breaks hearts, and almost loses herself in the process. Can she come back from it? That is the question we're left with as we see her fall and make mistakes, but only time will tell if her restless behavior will be her ruin.

This has been the most difficult book to review for me this year because it's the final chapter of Tasman and Michael. I've cried, laughed, and feared for this couple throughout the series, and they've become like friends. Saying good-bye is difficult, but nonetheless I knew Tawdra wouldn't disappoint us.

Her pages filled with the rebuilding of the dream that Michael and Tas once shared before she shattered it to pieces with her restless drive. But the adventure isn't over, not when every time they kiss poor Tas breaks out in blisters (or sets trees on fire!)She has to learn to control these new powers before she literally turns the passion into an inferno.

But that's not all. She also receives an invitation to join others like herself. The group claims they use powers for good, but after all Tas has faced she doesn't know who she can trust. To please her parents, and with the hope that they can teach her control, Tas joins up with some interesting characters. But when Nell's father is accused of murder, all bets are off and she's thrown into the heart of a bitter, ugly, and old feud that rivals anything she's ever faced.

If you've followed along with this series, you'll love the conclusion. I still want more, but I was tickled pink by the ending.

Fearless is a courageous story of young love put against the danger of secrets and magic while trying to uphold the values that you believe in. Tasmyn isn't what she appears to be, no, she seems to most like a very shy girl. She's grown-up without friends and constantly moved around because of her father's job. This is only part of it though, Tas has difficulty making friends because she has a secret: she can read your mind.

Michael has lived in Kings his whole life though his family settled into it's outskirts. Part of this is due to occult history that is deeply entwined within the town itself. The moment he sees Tas he knows she is the girl for him. After all the men in his family just have a knack of knowing, and it hasn't failed him yet. But is Tas more than he's bargained for?

As if the mind reading wasn't bad enough, a local girl with deep roots, decides to make Tas's life a living ________! From day one she picks on the poor girl, yet Tas doesn't realize why, nor does she realize how deranged Nell really is.

Will Micheal accept Tas as she is? Can the two of them uncover the deep and deadly plotting before someone falls victim to Nell? Does Tas make the right decision to use her powerful gift for good, or will she spend her life feeling cursed?

This is an excellent story for the young adults, and of course those who are young at heart. I tried not to give too much away, but explain just enough so that you can get a good idea what the story is about. This is a very light paranormal read with a very touching ending. The story scene mimics what I remember of high school life, moving to a new town, and making new friends. I enjoyed that it was included as I found it makes it easier to relate to the story as a whole. From dances, to cliques, and the dreaded 'OMG where will I sit at lunch!,” I found it downright refreshing!

Fearless by Tawdra Kandle

This is my first book to read by this author. This was a well developed story. I highly enjoyed the pace of the book. It was slower in parts but it is still a highly recommended read. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series. This is more for the YA readers with a mixture of witches and supernatural elements stirred together. I love the romance and the love a first sight. I love the characters Michael and Tas. I'm excited about the next book in the series. The book is very well written and I love the dialogue between all the characters (even the inner dialogue.)

Tasmyn is a somewhat normal teen except the fact that she can read minds. Her family move to the town of King where strange things happen. The first day of school Tas meets a handsome stranger named Michael who is smitten from the moment he lays eyes on her. With scary teachers and an enemy that pops out of the wood work, Tas with the help of Michael try to save themselves and a few others that are caught in an evil web. Will Tas be able to save her friends or will she live to rue the day she moved there? I give this book 4 star review!!
