Derviš M. Korkut: A Biography door Hikmet Karčić
This slim biography brings together the scant surviving biographical information about Derviš Korkut, a Bosnian Muslim academic who resisted fascism in the 1930s and '40s, and played a role in both saving Jewish Resistance fighters and the famed Sarajevo Haggadah. Hikmet Karčić clearly scoured the archives to reconstruct Korkut's life and career as much as possible—for various reasons, Korkut didn't publish much during his lifetime—and this biography will definitely be of great use to future historians. General readers however will likely still find Geraldine Brooks' New Yorker article on Korkut, while less comprehensive, more engaging.… (meer)
