Kelly died too young. This is a collection of essays he wrote, some for The Atlantic Monhly magazine, some perhaps published elsewhere. It was released just after he died in Iraq (in a Humvee roll-over, I believe) and the last section of the book is personal email with and about his family.

Some essays are about life in general (e.g., one on Christmas lights: white vs. colors?) while many deal with the first and second Iraq wars. Kelly believed strongly that there are things worth fighting and dying for, and that freedom is chief among those.

Also, he's just a damn good writer, and parts of this book are very funny indeed.

Quite good writing, from a guy whose life was cut short far too early.
