The novelization of the classic AD&D module of the same name. For fans of the Dungeons and Dragons game, this would be a great book to read. Kidd adds some backstory to the general concept of the module, but Justicar and Escalla and friends actually spend a lot of time fighting the forces of the Spider Queen, sneaking into her giant mechanical spider home and roaming the Demonweb! Great adventure, fun characters and lots of action make this enjoyable. A D&D classic.

A very fun novelization of the famous AD&D adventure modules, D1-D3. The books expand on the novels, first giving a plausible reason for the trip to the Underdark, and an equally plausible reason why the trip must be accomplished quickly. Unlike the original mods, there's actually a reason why they have to to the shrine of the Kuo-Toa and then the Vault of the Drow. A very urgent and personal reason. This book features a return of the characters from Kidd's previous novels, Justicar and his pixie wizard friend Escalla, plus his sentient hell-hound cloak companion, Cinders. Great action, great characters and a great novelization.… (meer)

Hilarious parody of geeks, gamers and science-fiction conventions (among other things), which also happens to be one of the better 'help I've fallen into a parallel world where magic works' novels that I've read. A lot of fun, with two very entertaining and 3-dimensional protagonists imo. Well worth the time to read.

What a fun ride.
This story is about the very best aspects of table top role-playing games - characters that have fun with real stakes on the line. Justicar and Estrella are brought together by coincidence and begin to develop a friendship through dangerous adventure.
This is not Shakespearian prose or storytelling that is deeply analytic of the human condition. Its just a fun romp through a classic D&D dungeon with characters that have just enough depth to make the reader care about them. Well worth the read.… (meer)
