I picked this out because the cover made me think someone was trying to imagine Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson character as a superhero. Disappointingly, this falls short of that awesome concept, but it does help to imagine Offerman's voice while reading.

An old, retired superhero named Frontiersman agrees to help a group of activists publicize their cause by sitting in a tree threatened by an evil lumber company. Once the word gets out where his is, Frontiersman is visited by old friends and targeted by foes old and new. Around the edges, the creators cram in an entire new universe of superheroes in hopes of launching a line of comics down the road, but mostly there are a whole bunch of conversations about relationships, some fights, and then the book ends without accomplishing much of anything.

Author Patrick Kindlon is the lead singer of a group called Drug Church and seems to be going for that multi-hyphenate thing that Gabriel Way did with Umbrella Academy but with less weirdness and more meh-ness in the storytelling.… (meer)
