This could be a great teaching tool to show how people talked or wrote about the world before, during, and after the Cold War. The writer perspective comes from one who lived through crisis' and containment. The author did a great job of exploring the war and how it made countries do some irrational things. He highlights the US involvement in South America politics by showing they would support repressive and criminal regimes if it hurt the Communists.
A well written book that contains some bias that reflect the state of the world at the time, 1994. Good teaching tool for Middle and High School Civics, History, and Free Enterprise classes. A war without bullets required an arsenal of manipulation, deception, and deceit. Good times.
