A good catalogue of interesting representations of Daoist art (ranging from metal and stone to paintings), with a bilingual text (Chinese/English). An introduction helps newcomers to the topic get their bearings as to the basics of religious Daoism and its role in traditional Chinese thought. A slight annoyance was the abundance of typographical and textual errors in the English text panels; nothing too serious (errors are of the "to the right" when the object was to the left, variety; and 'Easter' instead of 'Eastern' in several places) but a careful proofreading could have easily eliminated them. Recommended for those interested in Daoist art and a good additional volume to Little's Taoism: and The Arts of China volume, which remains the classic in this field.… (meer)
