Figured out the big mystery way early in the book. Skipped to the end.

It's interesting to read about a couple who are already married. They are very devoted to each other and then they hit a rough patch. No cheating per se, they both have 'attention' from o/w o/m and have to deal with it.
It does have a happish ending but leads to the next book.

I always think book 2 is hard to write but this sequel is excellent.
You will need book 3 after this as there are unresolved issues.

This wasn't off to a good start for me.
I don't like it when it feels like the heroine is chasing the Hero and he's turning her down and she keeps at it.
I accept some push/pull but too much is a no go for me.

REVIEW:  LAGUNA HEIGHTS BY KAIRA ROUDA

Laguna Heights by Kaira RoudaMy rating: 4 of 5 starsSecrets, betrayal, fear. Annie had lived with those most of her adult life. Coping was not easy but she managed until she got the shock of her life. A visit from the past. Now one shocking night of violence threatens to destroy all that she holds dear. Kaira Rouda has written a story that every woman should read. Annie was trapped within a prison that she created to escape the events of the past. Her predicament angered me because she didn't deserve the fall out she had to endure because she trusted the wrong person. The seriousness of this story is evident from the first page. One devastating event led to a spur of the moment the decision that could topple her whole world. Laguana Heights is gripping, heartbreaking and triumphant. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. A stunning piece of fiction that lingers on after the last page.View all my reviews

Three years can come and go in the blink of an eye or it can seem like a never ending span of time. For one so young, Polly experienced a great deal in that time frame. The inevitable loss of a parent and the responsibilities that go along with the grief. The events gave her a sense of maturity, not associated with many twenty three year olds, but it also broke a large piece of her. To accept what is became her motto, instead of hoping for the best. Her world is about to be rocked in a really big way. (Literally and figuratively.)

All work and no play, has made Luke a wealthy man. With success comes attention and acceptance, not necessarily happiness. His fast paced existence is thrown off it's axis by a seductive woman, with hot and cold tendencies. Sweet Dreams is a confectionary buffet of sensuality, intense feelings and heartwarming moments. Stir in a bit of realism, sage advice and you have a breath of fresh air wrapped in a bundle of sweet goodness. A winning combination.

It's impossible not to love a story that uses two of my favorite things as a lure. Sweet Escape is a decadent tale of guilty pleasures. Evan and Hannah pack on the heat with a scoop of heart on the side. Temptation must run in the Stone genes because these men can seduce a woman with just one look. Evan is the poster boy for broken hearts. He doesn't trust his own not to let him down, so why should he trust anyone else. Hannah is a runner, she hits the road when to escape issues that are hard for her to face. When responsibility comes calling can she live up to the challenge? Spicy romance delivers a sugary treat in the form of Sweet Escape by Nina Lane.

Sweet Time is a reminder of why I'm a Nina Lane fan. In a world full of jaded people where anger and hate seems to be becoming the norm, it's nice to see that there are still a few optimists among us encouraging us to be strong. Gavin and Mia may be less than perfect, totally mismatched and not keen on falling in love, but the wit that Ms. Lane brought to the table is the perfect blend of humor, heart and happiness to chase away life's blah moments and leave a lasting impression that is sure to please.

As a poet, I am a lover of words. The Secret Thief fed into my love of prose using lyrical delivery and imaginative dialogue. Nina Lane used beautiful words and captivating emotion to unite two broken people. Flynn and Eve are in need of a second chance. Ms. Lane gave them the courage to find one. With each other. A surreal love song, that needs to be experienced.

If We Leap (What If Duet 0.5) by Nina Lane
If We Leap is a perfect appetizer. Lane gives readers just enough to get their feet wet, before they dive in headfirst. A glimpse into the heart of a troubled boy and his secret admirer. Cole has a beautiful heart, but a troubled life. Josie sees the the beautiful boy behind the broken soul. The What If Duet series is off to a great start.

If We Leap was a glimpse into young love at it's most innocent and pure. Cole and Josie had the beginnings of something wonderful, but life got in the way. If We Fall delves deeper into the mystery of Cole and Josie's heartache. What derailed their chance the first time around? What's keeping them from trying again? Their road is one of doubt, pain and fear. What they need is faith. In order to find forever, we have to take the risk of heartbreak. If wishes were rainbows, Lane would keep us guessing till we reached that pot of gold. A heart-breaker read.

Learning to fly is not easy, yet is something we all must do. For only at our most vulnerable can we truly understand what it means to soar. If We Fly is the journey of two broken hearts trying to become whole. From the innocence of young love to the heartache of adult tragedy, Lane took my heart and wrung it dry. Josie and Cole paint a picture of the glory of love. Even at it's most fragile, love has a way of conquering each obstacle thrown in it's way. Quite an exceptional portrait of true love.

After my heart was gutted in book2, I didn’t know how this book would end but I thrown again. To find out how much Cole loved Josie was just beautiful. True he kept one big secret from her but I can’t fault him for it. I just fault him for leaving her and pushing her away. I loved that Josie still had a strength in her that wasn’t totally distorted by her sadness and psychosis. I don’t really want to let these characters go.

I didn’t want things between Josie and Cole to change. I wanted them happy but knowing that they were not together tore me up. I was shocked to know the catalyst that drove them apart. It completely gutted to me to find out the reason why. So much heartache.

I really love this book. It was short but we get a glimpse of Josie and Cole and how much they loved each other before everything went wrong between them. I loved how Josie saw underneath Cole’s reticent and brought out a softer side of him. I didn’t want the sweetness to end and have them change to completely different people but I need to know what tore them apart.

This novella didn't quite meet my needs for a Christmas and holiday story, but it was good nonetheless. Penelope, tired of being the good girl, the boring girl, elopes with a most unsuitable man. When his mother objects to their future marriage he abandons her in the middle of nowhere with no baggage and worst of all no money. But Penelope, after a few moments of desperation, thrives. She finds jobs, makes money, and most of all makes friends.

Then family friend Darius arrives to bring her home. Penelope's father dispatched him to bring him her home no matter what, and Penelope is less than thrilled by that and by the circumstances she'd be returning to. Darius and Penelope end up having to spend several nights together getting to know each other better than ever before. And when Penelope returns home all her misapprehensions about her father and her family are straightened out.

As I said, this novella could have used more emphasis on Christmas, but I still enjoyed Penelope and Darius' story.

A Study in Seduction
3 Stars

A mathematical genius, Lydia Kellaway has never had much time for the social niceties. So when Alexander Hall, Viscount Northwood, purchases a family heirloom of sentimental value, Lydia makes the difficult decision to confront him. Sparks fly from the first and only increase as Lydia and Alexander grow closer, but a secret from the past emerges to threaten their newfound love.

An auspicious beginning that fails to live up to its potential.

Let me preface this review with the caveat that mathematics is an horrendous subject for me, and the abundance of equations and mathematical descriptions are distracting, annoying and add absolutely nothing to the storyline.

With that out of the way …

Lydia's formidable intelligence and strength of will make her a particularly appealing heroine. Unfortunately, her secret is so painfully obvious, unoriginal and trite that it undermines her characterization completely.

Alexander is neither sufficiently dark nor brooding to make a satisfying tortured hero, and the scandal associated with his name is uninteresting despite the excellent potential for a political subplot involving the Crimean War.

The villain is a smarmy caricature whose menace is only vaguely threatening and does not provide the tension and suspense that the author was going for.

The romance is mediocre at best and the resolution to the conflict preventing Lydia and Alexander from being together is contrived.

All in all, a disappointing debut and the secondary characters are not compelling enough to continue with the series.

Let me start by saying that I have read a couple of Nina's books in the past, and I enjoyed them. So when I agreed to read this, I was expecting the same quality as her other books... I am a little disappointed in this book.

To be honest, it just didn't do anything for me. I was more annoyed throughout the book than anything. I couldn't connect with the characters. The story-line was so-so. Not quite original but had its own originality in it.

I have found myself disliking the "strong alpha-male" these days. They are over done. They are annoying. I find myself irritated with these characters than anything. Now, I am sure many may disagree and feel the opposite as I.

Now Kelsey? I did not like her. I repeat, I did not like her. She was bitchy and stuck-up. She seemed like such a made-up character. I like characters that seem real. She didn't seem real.

Putting all of that aside, the book it a good book. I can see where many enjoy it. My not liking the book as much as I expected is due to my personal taste. If you through my personal taste aside and look at the writing itself, you will have a good book. Nina always writes well. If you are looking for that alpha male book, this is definitely a book for you. If you aren't, I wouldn't suggest reading it.

Sugar Rush CEO Luke Stone does't do relationships, he's a busy business man and only has time for short term affairs with strict rules. His needs seem to change a little though when he meets a feisty young "Peach" in a bar.
Polly is horrified when she realizes what she did the night before, and before the most gorgeous man she has ever met. Oh well, embarrassment over, it's back to school and class tours are taking her to....you guessed it, the Sugar Rush plant and there's "Mr Hottie"....oops!
A wonderful story. As Polly and Luke get to know each other Polly sees that Luke really needs to slow down and relax before he burns out.
An entertaining romance with lively characters.

The second in the Sugar Rush series and my favourite so far.
Hannah is a blogger and usually writes about love but she's promised her sister she'd look after her bakery, it's in a small town where nothing much goes on and if she doesn't find something to write about soon she's going to lose her readers.
Until she accidentally covers herself and Sugar Rush heir Even Stone in a whipped cream disaster.
Evan is Sugar Rush's CEO but his family have concerns about his health and tend to watch that his work load is not too heavy. And when he receives bad news, he uses Hannah as a diversion and they tour the area for fun and for a little passionate relaxation. Until Evan's heart condition rears it ugly head.
A loverly romance. Lots of fun and very sexy, the chemistry is great between the leads, the story is a little predictable but who cares, it's a highly entertaining story and well worth a read!
