I made the unfortunate decision to go along with the departments choice and went with this book. It was a mistake. The students are having an awful time with it. I know better now for the future.

I read this entire thing because I wanted an overview of political science, but, really, it is the worst sort of first year textbook: uninspired, able to drain the life out of the most interesting material, desparate not to say anything even slightly controversial.

There have to be better introductions to political science.
