Over de Auteur
Master Long's roots in the Martial Arts began in 1962 at the age of ten in a school of traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu. While continuing his studies in Jiu Jitsu he began studying Korean Tae Kwon Do in 1964. Late in 1965 he met his Lian Shi Master who taught under the name Huang Long. Master Long toon meer continued his studies in Lian Shi earning his Da Shi level Wu Duan in 1980. Master Huang Long passed away that year and Master Long adopted the name Hei Long in his Master's honor. In the years that followed Master Long practiced and studied with numerous practitioners of different Martial Arts to get a sense of their structure and value as a system of self defense. Huang Long always stressed the need for Martial Arts to be able to adapt to its environment and serve the purpose of self defense above any other purpose. Master Long did a lengthy study of traditional American Boxing and following that turned his attention to teaching as an art in and of itself. In his own words, "Not all good Martial Artists are good teachers. The ultimate value of a Martial Art is not in its philosophy, roots or traditions, but in its value as a method of defending oneself, and the ultimate value of a teacher is not in his own skills as a Martial Artist, but in his ability to give those skills to a student." Master Long is currently developing the next text on Tie Gun Lian Shi, Art of the Steel Telescoping Baton. toon minder
