To the extent that it is known, the F2A Brewster Buffalo tends to be a much-maligned airplane, with its brief record in Allied service not terribly glorious. The author of this book begs to differ, and notes that the plane did have a decent record, for the time, in trained hands, and its terrible record at Midway was the result of sending green pilots against Zero-based experts. The author notes that the plane did have a 2:1 kill ratio in the East Indies before getting overwhelmed by numbers, and in Finnish hands, the plane did well.
