Nicolló di Bernardo dei Machiavelli

This volume contains (among other things) a translation of Machiavelli's 'The Art of War;' a letter Machiavelli wrote on Florentine fortifications; and a number of his plays, poems and letters. Some of the more well-known pieces include 'Clizia,' 'Mandragola' and 'The Golden Ass.' This volume also contains the 'Tercets on Fortune,' which were cited by Hanna Fenichel Pitkin in her book 'Fortune is a Woman.' I would certainly recommend having another edition of 'The Art of War' (perhaps the Lynch edition) on hand, but this is a helpful edition to have on hand just for the 'Tercets' and selected letters, if nothing else.… (meer)
