Barbara McBride-Smith, a full-time school librarian in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the author of Greek Myths, Western Style, was recently named Tulsa's Elementary Teacher of the Year. As a storyteller, she has been featured at numerous storytelling festivals and reading and library conferences. She is a toon meer recipient of the John Henry Faulk Award for Outstanding Contributions to Storytelling and was recently inducted into the National Storytelling Network's Circle of Excellence. toon minder

Kind of funny. Updated versions of Greek myths, in cowboy language. It would probably perform better than it reads. There are a dozen or so myths covered.
Having sat through so many "traditional" stories that are empty dead rituals invoking none of the contemporary enjoyment, awe mystery etc, this was an eyeopener for me. Taking traditional stories and blending them with real local life to make them live again for the audience. I was inspired to do the same and have drawn on traditional Persian and Celtic stories to provide the structure and power for a retelling that draws on American and English crime social history(1860'-1930s)
