This is an old 1998 Naiad lesnov that a friend recently gave me.

Closeted lesbian homicide detective Tru North catches the case of a murdered lesbian restaurant owner, Sandra Vandamier. It turns out that Vandamier was a nasty piece of work, and more than a few people had reason to hate her (including the reader).

But Tru's job is to find the killer, even if the victim was someone who probably deserved what she got.

At first, it seems like an open and shut case, with Vandamier's sole inheritor and lesbian partner - on whom Vandamier cheated more than once - having an abundance of motive. In fact, Tru's homophobic bosses are thrilled at the idea of arresting a dyke for the crime. They hate us all, anyway, and figure we deserve to be in prison just for being who we are.

But Tru starts to suspect that it isn't so open and shut, after all....

Well written and well plotted. Short (197 pages) and a pretty typical Naiad formula lesnov. But still enjoyable mind candy.… (meer)
