this comes across as an off the cuff silly book, but once you get into the depth of it you're going to learn a great deal about yourself. you may not figure out exactly what you want, but you will learn what is holding you back and how to get past those obstacles.

More of a personal account of how the author succeeded in being able to be conscious while in a state of sleep, this book has many suggestions to help the reader do the same. The blurb on the back of the book stated there were step-by-step instructions, which turned out to be false. Instead the author states nothing can force this process, and encourages the reader to try tactics until he succeeds.

Lucid Dreaming for Beginners was a fairly helpful book that opens to the reader up into the practice of lucid dreaming. The book not only does over how dream work and how to better one’s chances for a lucid dream, the book also goes into how dreams in general affect our waking life. The suggestions and ideas in this book are good for beginners or even for people who just what to touch-up on their techniques. A pretty interesting book on lucid dreaming overall.

I discovered this book only (when looking for something to go along the similarly recommendable Bright Idea Deck) after having worked through quite a lot of other tarot literature. This one is a very good buy really! It is understandably written in a modern language, a clear and open prose. It offers a wealth of information (of course, if you want to go into astrology, kaballah, Golden Dawn, esotericism you will have to get further and more advanved books). What I like best is that the book compares different decks (printing the cards beside each other in comparison) thus working out the essentials of cards´ meanings. Interpretations are excellently structured (light-shadow, mantra, relationship, work, symbols etc.) and very often give a new idea and a new twist compared to "classic" works like Rachael Pollack`s (which are very good, as well).
If you work with the Bright Idea deck (which you should :-) and which is one of the decks featured in this book - well, Mark Mcelroy is the author of both), this book is a must. If you work with other (RWS-similar!) decks - well, this book is a must, as well. If you use a Thoth-deck you are probably better off with another book, although you might still enjoy it and learn from it. Get it! Well, really...
