I have to think more about Hawthorne's Habitations, but off the top of my head...this is a fascinating read and quite compelling. Of course, it helps if you love Nathaniel Hawthorne's works, but even if you don't it's still worth a read for its philosophical take on 19th century literature as well as social issues of the time. A big plus is if you also like Henry James because he figures quite prominently...Well-written and far from dry, Hawthorne's Habitations is also great for the student in search of a good source for literary criticism.… (meer)
