This is the story of a happily married couple. Justine and her husband have been married for five years. Life is good and so is their relationship. The husband (Oddly his name is never mentioned, but I never noticed until I started to write this!) would like to experiment, sexually, a little more. He's tried to leave subtle hints, open webpages and other such things. So far it hasn't had the intended effect and, at the opening of the book, he is approaching Justine about it for the first time.

What he has in mind isn't drastic. Just a little spanking every once and a while. More than the normal slap during sex, but less than outright bondage and domination. Justine's reaction is, unsurprisingly, hesitant. In the interest of loving her husband, though, she's willing to at least consider it. What happens throughout the rest of the story is a constant surprise to both of them.

I'm new to reading erotica, and I wasn't so sure about all of this. Especially the further the whole thing progressed. I have to admit that I found myself pleasantly surprised at my own enjoyment of this book. Aside from the obvious reasons for enjoyment, I was rather impressed by the depth of the story. I didn't expect that it would be so eye opening. I'm not saying I'm prepared to do what Justine and her husband do, but I don't find it nearly as strange and uncomfortable as I used to.

More than anything this is a story about a couple truly exploring the depths of themselves, and their love for each other. To me, that makes all of it's strangeness (or at least what I used to find strange) beautiful.
