It is not the relation with this or that order of opposite that it refuses. But the state of being in relation as such, the state of being in front of. We have waited for a long time for an artist who is brave enough, is at ease enough with the great tornadoes if intuition, to grasp that the break with the outside world entails the break with the inside world, that there are no replacement relations for naïve relations, that what are called outside and inside are one and the same. This text is the result of a Godard symposium and thus is a disparate collection which explores the impact JLG had on art/philosophy and dance(??) among other focuses. One of the joys of reading such was fomenting the desire to return to JLG's Praise of Love (2001) -- which interestingly I bought my copy of it at a Blockbuster years ago along with Wallace and Grommit.

I was also fortunate to read a superb review within the text of the Godard film Passion (1982) just hours after viewing it yesterday. This isn't likely for general readers, couched as it is in an often infuriating theory-jargon. It is still illuminating and I'm glad for the opportunity.… (meer)
