There is just something about this book I don’t like. Overall I like the message of helping is good. And I like the message of helping parents do some of their stuff so they have more time for the kids. But I think what has thrown me off is that Angela, the girl in the story, gets disheartened because she is asked to do things she should already be doing like picking up her toys and making her bed. If those things were already done, maybe the parents would let her help with other things. Maybe I am just looking for too big a hole. The story is nice, but not great and not one I would add to my shelves at work.… (meer)
This is about your inside voice. That person who talks to you in your head. Angela is 7 years old and sometimes it takes a bit to get her to listen to her “small” voice inside her head. Mostly it's the voice telling you to do right, or make amends. The illustrations in this book are nice, but the story is long and overly wordy. The author has to use multiple examples to get their lesson across, instead of one finely streamed story.
