This was a very practical manifestation guide that didn’t make me go, Aha! So that’s what Carl Jung and the Vedas…. ~you know, but I’m very glad I read it and I’ll mention a point Lisa makes and then kinda mind-wander a bit. She says that you need a “blend” of different activities in your life, but not a work-life ‘balance’ which would imply a rigid equal division. Just to take examples from my own temperament or whatever, we don’t do well to work to avoid the rest of life, but equally, my work on any given day doesn’t have to be seen as needing to be less than, or ‘cutting into’ time for socializing, meditation, or indeed popular science or academic history reading. That, equally, can be a way of avoiding the rest of life. And just in terms of providing for oneself, getting the “good” products—good for me, good for the earth—with some notable exceptions presuppose a certain amount of monetary abundance to get a quality product priced accordingly…. And once we have a good place in the system, we can be willing, and will it to be more fair. Rules can be a little…. And ordinary things, and yet I don’t think that the people on the bottom have made many laws, as the occasional grunting and cries of anguish are at least as likely to make fake success people at the top (get afraid and) do something stupid. Or just, journalists, right. Take them: politics are not all the same, and a book per se is not without merit, but just to say you are the abstract just-bad or the good colonial leftist based on the books you read, right…. But, if the truth is not just what we say, don’t listen to me yet. Carl Jung and the Vedas types I probably do know more about, though, the club gatekeepers wouldn’t let me into the inner circle! Just as well! Make some money!….

And equally, just to scratch the surface of an ugly plant or something, whenever they play the Join a Winning Team hiring ad at work, I’m reminded of the crazy-cold-war novel where team sports were indicative of divided loyalties and commie sympathies. There’s success in the market, and there’s neurotic dreaming, and they can both be called capitalism. But now I’m really not talking about the book—common sense; a good portion of your spiritual life can be work, etc. But yes: I know that you shouldn’t have to feel two foot small because you’re the perfect combination of pretty and good at basketball (if you will).

…. After-note: Although the Believe It! girl isn’t quite alternative consciousness like this girl (from the Secret), I can’t help but be reminded of the Believe It! girl, who didn’t quite have a theory of selling as much as a story of how she had learned by doing. This girl (Secret girl) does write a normal non-fiction book with theory, but she also emphasizes learning and earning by doing, and not always by super-human theorizing, you know.

Lisa Nichols is far from perfect, but in many wonderful people's eyes whose lives she's changed from worse for the better with the power of her positive words and with the power of her positive actions, she's really one of a kind, a truly inspirational human being, and that's just one of the many reasons why I decided to learn more about her through this wonderful book, for she made quite an impression on me through her guest appearance on Steve Harvey Show and through her guest appearance on Impact Theory, in fact, she moved me to tears. That's why I knew that I needed to learn more about her, about her story, about her personal success story, about how she managed to raise herself from poverty to riches. And as luck would have it-I did learn more. I learned so many things surrounding her life that she's mentioned in this book, I learned of her past, about her present, about her hopes for the future, I learned of her world-view, her inspirational personality, her identity, but what I truly appreciate is that I learned of her wisdom and that I learned of her knowledge, for Lisa Nichols as imperfect as she is, she's very knowledgeable and wise, and if it's anything that truly inspires me, is truly inspirational people who want for other people to search for, discover, and uncover their endless and limitless potential, so they can make a truly special unforgettable journey out of their lives.

Reading this book is like listening to a community of people who have come together to share their most touching life moments. Some of the transformative stories are showing the ways we touch each other’s lives. Others are showing how we can learn, grow and live differently. Most of the stories are relaxing, and some bring smiles to your face. While others make you think deeply. Some of the inspiring stories are about what we learn in life, others are what we learn after a loved one's death and how we choose to live through grief. There is much to be discovered by hearing another’s thoughts on their life’s choices, journey’s and trials. I feel blessed to have been able to listen and learn from these great writers. I think everyone who loves goodness and encouraging stories would enjoy reading this book. Total listening time for the audiobook is about 12 hours.

The beauty of Unbreakable Spirit rests with the people - those who have encountered darkness and yet have risen above their circumstances. Quite emotional and inspiring stories. Although the format of the book and the sheer volume of stories does dilute the overall impact, these stories are worth telling, and indeed may help others seeking comfort, camaraderie, and inspiration. Well done to those who participated in this anthology for your courage and willingness to let go, move onward, and help those in similar circumstances.

I really like Nichols' enthusiasm and energy. I don't find her overbearing or insincere at all, which is the case with a number of "self-help" authors. This was an easy read, and her anecdotes maintain reader interest. I don't find myself shifting my life in a particular way after having read this, but that's not to say it won't help others. There are religious overtures in this book, which don't match my belief system, but would be effective for some readers.½

This was an early review book I never did receive, so recently I borrowed a copy from the library. Just seemed like your standard self-help book although the author did go through some pretty dramatic episodes in her life, which is the only thing that kept it interesting. I'm not so compelled by the religious aspect. It could motivate some people I suppose.

I am very, very late at reviewing this book I received as an Early Reviewer, and I'm really sorry I didn't read it sooner, it's actually quite a good book. The author has an enthusiasm that I really enjoyed, and the way the book is set up makes it an easy read, with little exercises scattered throughout the book. Now, I can't say that the book changed my life, but given that I've read more "self help" books than I can count, it did actually offer some tips and ways of looking at things that I hadn't really considered before. And best of all it offered practical advice on how to change your attitude and thinking, as well as the way you interact with other people. It will still take work to build the life you want, but I'm willing to keep this book around, and try the advice when I need that extra little kick in the pants to get back on track with my life instead of just giving up. I was also pleasantly surprised that despite the fact she appeared in the movie The Secret, this book wasn't about just "wishing" your way to a better life.

This is a book on self esteem and positive thinking. It reminded me of some of the older self help books.
I really enjoyed it.

I've thumbed through this book--and it looks excellent. I'm just not in a place to be able to concentrate on it. . . .yet.

Lisa Nichols shares her very personal failures and triumph in this book. I can only imagine how dynamic she must be in person because her strength and voice come right off the page. Although I was unable to relate to many of the stories, having gone through nothing as dramatic in my life, I can see how developing our 'bounce-back muscles' can lead anyone to a more fulfilling life. I admit that I read straight through the book without doing the exercises the first time around but I do plan to go back and work through each chapter more fully to see how I can apply some of Lisa's wisdom to my life. I have a feeling that the exercises will be uncomfortable and I will feel ridiculous working through some of them but being truly honest in examining one's life is not an easy task.

Lisa Nichols has been both brave and thoughtful in her book No Matter What! Brave because she is quite honest and open about her experiences with some fairly nightmarish life situations. Thoughtful in that she goes to great lengths not only to tell her own story, but to provide thorough, descriptive and understandable exercises for self-reflection and personal problem solving. I will confess to getting a little weary of the details and wonder if some of Lisa’s story and problem-solving approaches might just translate better in a workshop setting than in written form. Having said that, almost any reader is certain to find one or two real gems that will help them to gain some personal insight into their own behaviours and attitudes. A book I will likely return to...

You CAN overcome every obstacle....NO MATTER WHAT! That is what Lisa Nichols shows us with her 9 Steps to Living the Life You Love. I found this book very well-written, and inspiring. Lisa makes a lot of sense with her approach to life and her steps in how to get past those things that trip us up...and don't we all have just one? or two? or a few??? I stayed up late the past two nights totally engrossed in what I was reading and couldn't wait to finish the book. Lisa's candor and down to earth approach make No Matter What! an easy book to read. Her steps aren't rocket science, and anyone could follow them and apply them to their own life. The difficult part would be the confronting our own selves! But aren't we worth it?! I would love for everyone to be able to read this book and just imagine the possibilities! Definitely a keeper! Find it! Buy it! Read it! Keep it!

Usually I'm not into self-help books but gave this one the old college try. Ms. Nichols made some very good suggestions in the book. She had exercises to do and lots of self talk ideas. I still don't get it though but maybe I'm one of those people that need a little more. Now that I've read it completely, maybe I should go back and do more of the exercises she mentions. Could be that would do the trick. I would recommend it to someone that is in to self-help books though.

There were several obstacles that I had to get through to read this book: the homework (who doesn't want a quick fix?), the vocabulary (I found the idea of bounce-back muscles annoying), the self-promotion at the end. This book however is powerful in the sense that it is completely honest: Nichols practices what she preaches and leads by example - not an easy thing to do when it comes to displaying your failures and set-backs however successful you are in overcoming them. This is worth a read just for the courageous narrative, strong message and sense of hope. It helps readers think about their own situations regardless of whether they take the "inspired steps" or not; just ticking the '"I'm not alone" boxes goes a long way to self awareness. I might even be inspire to take a few steps myself.

First, Thank you LibraryThing for the early review copy. Second, I had to overcome the feeling of "Oh, no, here's more of the Secret-Law of Attraction-Power of Now stuff". I mean, they are all great books etc., but how many ways can to really say the same thing? Well, Lisa Nichols said it in another way and used her personal story to drive the points home. She did an excellent job. If you haven't read the mentioned books, you can do justice by picking up 'No Matter What' and let Lisa Nichols guide you to a better sense of your well-being in 9 sensible steps.

lisa nichols show you that the first and most important step to "living the life you love" is to love and accept yourself. reading her 9 steps opened my eyes to some of the negative things i do that i never realised were happening. everyone can benifit from this book, whether you believe in the secret or not, it shows that the true secret is belief in yourself.

Lisa Nichols, motivational speaker, teacher, author and inspirational role model, has given us a great gift with her book, NO MATTER WHAT!: 9 Steps to Living the Life You Love. She guides and coaches the reader through the emotional obstacles we place along our life paths to a more fulfilling future of promise and success. Her lessons are common sense things--not necessarily new ideas, but told to us in a refreshingly honest voice that had me nodding my head time after time, seeing myself in the pages.

I thought this was a wonderful book, filled with many strategies to help those who are seeking a personal well-being that has been eluding them. Through close self-examination and hard work, Ms. Nichols lays out what she calls "action steps"--tips and techniques that guide us to a healthier and happier self and help strengthen our soul and our "character muscles."

We all have weak areas in our lives that can always use closer scrutiny and motivation to improve. NO MATTER WHAT! is just the tool to help each of us look to our futures and not regret our pasts.

Well done and highly recommended. A nice reminder that the energy we put out to the world can, and does, affect our well being in every way.
