I used this book as an introduction to a first-grade biography unit. The students were amazed by the accomplishments made by Keller, and her ability to overcome adversity.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of this book, but also the details that kids need to learn about Rosa Parks.

This is a very simple book that has popular questions that children asked about the world around us. I think it's a book that can spark beautiful conversations and can get you started in a deeper project. I would say this is a book for children starting in school ages 3-8 because of the dynamic questions. It the more academic side, this book focuses on the "Wh" sounds for emergent readers.

The history of Ellis Island, who traveled to Ellis Island, and the purpose of Ellis Island was very cut and dry. The pictures were interesting but lacked the ability to grab the attention of a kindergartener or maybe even a 1st grader.… (meer)
