This book is about a young girl named Zoe who has to flee her city because of the war happening there. She does not want to leave her place of birth, but knows that she has to. Before leaving she remembers all the good times and memories she had in the places around her. She takes out some paper and starts drawing a map of the places that made her happy. She knows that she will always have those places will be with be her, anywhere that she goes. A very inspiring and touching book. I would definitely read this to my math classroom not only to connect it to concepts such as spatial relationships and shapes, but to also for them to connect to it. Some students may not be from the United States and may have had to leave their place of "good memories" because of hardships or other circumstances. We can also use this book in Social Studies to teach about places around them (making a map). This book is also written in Spanish, which is the original publication.… (meer)
