Beth Orton sings what I would call Soft Alternative Rock in an ethereal voice that can transport you out of your body. Her album has a consistent tone: breathy vocals with fairly dynamic music. She tries a couple of slow thoughtful songs which I no doubt underrated and tried several experiments. Making a song out of William Blake's Poison Tree was interesting. Doing "See Through Blue" with a waltzy style was irritating.
