This is a book chronicling the events in Beaumont, Texas during the 1960's (I think) when the feds and the state came in and "busted up" the crime syndicate that had controlled Beaumont for so many years. We, of course, were quite used to it, and many times, especially at our teenage slumber parties, called "Miss Rita's" houses of ill repute asking for a job. They spotted us right off, of course. This was quite a fascinating time in Beaumont, and pitted (though I didn't know it at the time) many friends against friends.… (meer)
