Parts of this were really, really good, and i was completely sucked in and had to stay up late to continue reading. Other parts i found really dull, and they dragged, and i almost wanted to skim over them. I've given it 4 because of the great parts! I loved the first contact concept and the first, hmm, two thirds, but the whole last third was pretty bad. Characters were weak and stereotyped but fine, the main voice was not as bad, and while i enjoyed the initial exploration, i disliked the 'trek' and what they found, (vagueness for spoilerfree!) and ended up not really liking the denouement. Overall i still found the book worth reading, and I'd try others by the author.… (meer)
