Actress-heroine Storm Sheridan’s plane goes down in the jungle. She desperately needs to get to London to star in a London play. Hero Rann Moorcroft (a man who works with teak logs) can’t spare any of his men to help her get out of the jungle because of a blockage in a river so Storm must stay in the jungle for a while. She eventually falls for Rann. What will she do when it is time to go home?

I like reading books that are located in jungles, and in this book, I enjoyed the exotic descriptions. But unfortunately, Storm completely spoiled the book for me. She was an annoying, selfish, and immature heroine. She was supposedly in love with Rann, but every time he did something nice for her, she got furious at him. I can’t figure out what Rann saw in her. All she did was complain and argue. The back story about Rann and the men trying to catch Maung Chi, the ivory poacher, was more interesting.

A frustrating and annoying read.

Pip loved her boss, Giles Shieldon, but she knew he would never name his beautiful new rose after her. Why should he, when Stella Garvey was obviously so important to him? How much longer could Pip bear to watch them together? She was only creating heartache for herself.

That was blurb and it actually distorts the story.

What a looney tunes ending. All these misunderstandings and angst and asshatery going on then suddenly the author said “whelp time to wrap this up. Let’s have some I love you’s totally out of left field, some random wonky explanations and we’ll call this thing good!”

4 stars for the high jinks of the first half when they were running from the bad guys 2 stars for the rather forced second half and negative stars for the lame ending. I’ll round that off to 3.
