"The Murder of Little Mary Phagan" is a treasure for any true Anglo southerner. The author defends a little southern belle from her factory employer who never was a Christian, and with such low morals the evidence certainly points to him as a cold-blooded killer without regard for a defenseless young Christian girl. The story mirrors Chaucer's Prioress' Tale where a young Christian boy is murdered by a Jew. It is an excellent book that is surely to become a long standing lesson in the conflict of religion between good and evil.… (meer)

2145 The Murder of Little Mary Phagan, by Mary Phagan (read 27 Apr 1988) I should not have bothered to read this book. It is written by a great-niece of Mary Phagan, who was murdered in Atlanta on Apr 26, 1913. It quotes a lot of the trial documentation, and the governor's commutation statement, and so it was interesting as a crime account. But I really could not empathize with the author's resistance to a pardon for Leo Frank, though his guilt seems clearly not psychologically indicated. In fact, the author's father refuses to condemn the lynching of Leo Frank!. The book is not an inspiring one.… (meer)
