This volume 1 which concentrates on the Canadian Navy in WW II. Portugal interviewed veterans with the idea of recording their experiences before they died and those stories became lost. Thus most of the anecdotes are brief since they usually concentrate on that veterans own experiences of the incident. Some episodes are taken from memoirs of museum collections of veterans memories.

Includes photos taken by war photographer Lt. Gilbert Milne who claims to have released the first photos of D-Day to North American newspapers.

The text is mostly Canadian Naval veteran's memories of incidents they were involved in serving in Canadian ships all over the world during WW II.… (meer)
