Great read for younger readers, I thoroughly enjoyed the flow of the story. Character introductions are a bit random at first but are quick to catch one woven into the story. Mystery element is nicely presented and maintained throughout the story to the very end. Thank you to the author for the review copy.

Starts off slow, but when Homes is introduced the story moves up a gear.
Homes is an unlikely sleuth who communicates by electronic tablet.
Homes solves crimes.
Homes is also a dog.
It is Susan's birthday and as she has been promised a dog, the family pay a visit to Harris's House of Hounds.
And so Homes moves in.
Homes helps Susan's father, who is a policeman, on a case of animal cruelty.
Homes and Susan eventually solve it.
Wonderful story that will appeal to young teens and adults alike.
Hope there will be more stories to come.

This children's mystery story has a high IQ dog as detective. Said mutt is called Homes after Holmes. Homes mobilizes an assortment of characters as he solves two cases in one with flair.
The story works well - good pace, characters, plot, writing style and narrative voice.
