Cartoons in colour using many logical descriptions of everyday emotions, objects, and situations. Includes a glossary at the back. Made me think of the speech a young Data android from Star Trek would use, or indeed a knowledgeable child, indeed very childish but clever. (For example, Star-fade = sunset, star-reveal = sunrise).

One of my favorite cartoons. This is a great afternoon read that's humorous and insightful. This would make a fun gift too!

I read this for the "A Comic Book" part of my 2020 reading challenge. I knew I loved his comics from what I had seen online, but having them all in one collection made them so much better. Some of these were familiar, but a bunch were new to me and all were really clever and funny. I'm really excited he's doing a second collection.

I didn't laugh out loud as much as I did in the first volume, but it was still very enjoyable. I love the creativity and simplicity throughout and how easy it is to follow and relate to.

I absolutely adore Nathan Pyle’s Stranger Planet. This is the second volume of the ‘Strange Planet’ series, sadly I haven’t managed to find the first book in the UK. I’ll keep looking.

His wonderful aliens speak to me in a way that other comic strips do not. Their world view of cats and parenthood in particular are very deeply felt. Love it. I wish for there to be many more books in the series. Xx

If you've seen the webcomics, you get the idea- but now in dead tree form!

The second Strange Planet compilation (found at the library, did not realize I was grabbing 2 instead of 1). If you've seen the comics floating around on the internet, you know what you're getting: human behavior filtered through beings who take things very literally. This one has a lot of pet and kid humor in addition to some sports! Short and entertaining, but also more of a library read for me rather than something I'd want to own.

2023-12-05: Not much to be said. Funny cartoons that often cast an interesting light on human actions.

2023-12-05: Not much to be said. Funny cartoons that often cast an interesting light on human actions. I didn't like this one nearly as much as the first. I think one was more just humor and randomness and the first was a bit more introspective.

The Strange Planet comics are so funny and I love seeing the posts Nathan W Pyle makes on social media of his comics. I was excited to see that he had made a picture book with this same comic! And of course, it’s adorable and hilarious. The life giver and offspring (parent and child) spend a day observing a new creature in the house, drawing what they see, and trying to mimic it’s actions. It’s a very sneaky, fluffy, vibrating sort of creature that has “deathblades” which allow it to climb. Love it!

I feel like my humour quotient and IQ have both gone up by several digits. This I the content I wanna read and love and share. It is beautiful. I would have loved it even more if it was a story rather than just various instances but it was fun to read none-the-less.

Aliens celebrating traditional holidays. Visiting haunted houses. Learning to ride a bike.

I read it in one sitting.

Visitors to earth experience life in literal terms. A cat is a vibrating creature, for instance. They cheer on sports teams with "Catch the orb!"

I love love love this book and will be reading them all.

Another quick cheer-up book with the cute blue beings. The humor is relatable and sweet, and it’s fun to decipher what the heck the beings are talking about. Some of their descriptions work better than others, but it’s clever work—good books to give as gifts.

A friend introduced me to this comic strip, and I’ve enjoyed following it on Instagram. The aliens’ odd descriptions of everyday activities and emotions make me smile. This was a sweet little collection that can easily be read in one sitting.

I've loved following Nathan Pyle on social media for a long time. His unique sense of humor brightens my day every time it comes across my feed. I was excited when I heard he was releasing a book, and it certainly did not disappoint. This book is a lighthearted poke at the absurdity of some of the mundane things we do as humans, as seen through the eyes of some aliens. They're cute, they're funny, and they have wonderfully extensive and creative vocabularies. I recommend this for anyone looking for a mental break and a mind-renewing chuckle.

This is a short book of ironic humor. The author provides a common sense point of view of common experiences. The terminology and explanations provide insight into some of our illogical activities. Moderately humorous.½

The Story:

These little alien guys living on earth and doing mundane earth things always make me smile. This would make an excellent coffee table book but is also worth the time to read from a to z.
