While I liked Lottie, she certainly has a lot of growing up to do...but I think the time on the farm helped start her in the right direction. Now if only that cat could hurry up the lessons so she gets a dose of super sweet before she hits her teenage years! It's a short read, aimed at the younger audience, but honestly I think it needs a little adult reinforcement to help it on its way. I mean, I loved the accompanying artwork, the characters, and the base storyline, but the general arc, the meaning behind what's transpiring was a little on the vague side of things for me. However, it looks like there may be more adventures in Lottie's future, so fingers crossed...we'll see what happens!

Lottie Sparkles Magical Discovery is the story of a little girl called Lottie who adores dressing up in sparkly clothes and accessories. Her wardrobe is entirely filled with glamorous, sparkly clothes.

She is sent to her grandparents during the school holidays. They live in a magical village called Nosegobbled, on a farm filled with noisy, dirty, smelly farm animals.

As soon as she arrives, the animals take a liking to her clothes, and every day one of the animals parades around the farm in something that belongs to Lottie.

Lottie is not amused by their antics. The animals eventually have all her glamorous clothes and Lottie is reduced to wearing dull farmhand wear.

Things change when she is sent to have a rummage in the attic. There is magic in the attic and she soon has a brand new wardrobe full of sparkly glamorous clothes again.

Lottie Sparkles Magical Discovery is Quelch's debut children's story book, which I think will appeal to girls in the age range 6 - 10 years. This book has lots of colourful pictures to accompany the story which will delight young readers. My favourite illustration is one of Lottie looking at the happy, smiling farm animals dressed in her finery!… (meer)
