- Olga Raggio was born in Rome, Italy. She earned a diploma from the Vatican Library and obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Rome in 1949. In 1950, she joined the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City as a junior research fellow and became a specialist in Renaissance and Baroque sculpture of France and Italy. She also taught for many years at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University.
