This book accompanied a television series from 1990 on the life of Thor Heyerdahl. As it was made with his full cooperation, much of the words in the book are directly from him. It covers his whole life, but naturally focuses on the Kon-tike, Ra and Tigris expeditions as well as Easter island. There is not space enough to cover everything in detail, but the book gives an excellent introduction, illustrated with plenty of photographs, which can be followed up with Heyerdahl's own writings.

I learnt a huge ammount in this book and am interested in following this up to see how establlished his work has become in the 20 years since the book was published. in summary, a good read which left me wanting more.½
