I enjoyed reading this with my sister. She will be better able to put these lessons into practice with her horse. She felt like she noticed a difference right away. I really appreciated the down to earth practical common sense approach to communication with one's horse. I did wonder how this philosophy might work with dogs since I don't have a horse. Mark Rashid's storytelling style is very relaxed and readable. I found it hard to put down. I had both the Audible audio and Kindle versions sync as I read. The reader of the audio version was very awkward. I would not recommend it, but I liked having the opportunity to either listen or read as I was able. Considering The Horse is a collection of stories that outline common behavior problems, and how to fix them by viewing things through the horses' eyes and approaching them with understanding and gentleness. Rashid helps the reader to understand the psychology behind horses' seemingly mysterious behavior, the common miscommunications between horses and riders, and the widespread misconceptions that riders have. At the end of each chapter are notes that he added 20 years later, which expound on several points, teach techniques which he later learned about, and explains a few cloudy details.
