Amy Remeikis

Guardian political journalist Amy Remeikis, herself a survivor of sexual assault, has written a brief trenchant account of the time that the #metoo movement hit home in Australia's Parliament House, when staffer Brittany Higgins alleged that she had been raped there. This was just the start of a series of revelations that caught Australia's conservative government napping and saw a Prime Minister bungling and fumbling his way around the politics of the issue instead of (as the victim put it) using his position of influence to drive change.

Over a year after Higgins first raised her complaint, despite many fine words, these issues remain largely unresolved, and Remeikis's examination of the issues, sadly, remains topical.… (meer)
