Nice cast and fast cars, but film sort of peters out near the end with an unfortunate anti-climax. Interesting to see Mitchum's son playing his (much) younger brother. Some of the acting is pretty amateurish, but the leads are very good.

Passable melodrama of an ex-soldier who goes to work as a driver for a shady character, played to perfection by Cochran, who happens to have an unhappy wife who likes to take nighttime drives. There isn't a lot of time for character development here, so things just sort of happen, with a big twist thrown in but not quite satisfactorily explained. While Cummings is okay in the role of the driver, Cochran's evil presence steals the film. As his henchman, Lorre has a sizable role, but his character is giving no memorable quirks. On the other hand, French actress Michele Morgan as the unhappy wife makes a big impression. Only in a few scenes is there any trace of an accent, and I wouldn't have known she was French except for IMDB. All in all, implausible and a bit disjointed, but the Miami and Havana aspect of the story adds some needed atmosphere and sets it apart from other mediocre films. And, to reiterate, Cochran is great.… (meer)
