Practical but too self-helpy for my tastes.
Diane Eshin Rizzetto writes with sensitivity and compassion about how to take a Zen Buddhist approach to life and how we may make a positive difference in a tumultuous world. Rizzetto explains how to cultivate deep hope, which involves taking right action without being wed to a preconceived outcome. Rizzetto emphasizes the interconnectedness of all and that our actions for good or bad have a ripple effect on all of creation. Rizzetto includes many practices to cultivate a more contemplative and compassionate approach to self and others and the challenges facing society. mitchellray | Aug 8, 2019 | Diane was a student of Charlotte Joko Beck. This is a well organized book that includes an introduction to the Zen practice as well as well organized sections covering the precepts. I don't recommend this as a first book on Zen. But good to read after you have finished "Nothing Special" by Joko Beck or an equivalent introductory text.
