I won this book from Goodreads First Reads giveaways in exchange for an honest review.

Seducer Fey is a decent beginning entry into the sci-fi fantasy genre. The plot, which the reader assumes is set in the future, primarily deals with ancient Celtic lore and the various races/creatures. Fairies have become the focal point by a group of scientist because of their longevity and a the targeted group are trying to remain in hiding. Genetics have become the way of the current society and ways are always searched for to improve appearance.

But beyond the mystical, there are other sub-plots which are quite prominent within the novel. First and foremost is the topic of sexuality and gender. The Author portrays a society where you can be whatever you want to be sexually and gender can sometimes seem ambiguous. Many of the characters in the novel are portrayed in this manner. The young protagonist Danny's (Edana) best friend, Cassidy, of which she has a crush on, is heterosexual and this story tells of their steadfast friendship and strong bonds of loyalty. A second core plot to the novel.

I did feel that parts of the gay aspects were a bit forced. The novel could have been a good novel whether the protagonist were gay or straight. I also found that most of the story, at least to my eyes, centered around Cassidy however, the main subject is Danny and the course taken to keep her safe.

The author does a good job with her research into both genetics and Celtic lore. These two plots were intriguing but were overshadowed by the theme of sexual preferences in the book.
