Fantasy, urban, vampires. When you are born a vampire life is long and can get boring. Daphne has had an interesting life, but lately it has lacked purpose. The creation of Team Darkwing — a secret government black squad — may just give her that purpose. The terrorists need to beware….½

A likeable story but I still found that something was missing...
Probably the fact that I didn't like the main character that much has something to do with it! It's just that she was presented as an extremely powerful vampire with a super IQ but, during the story, she didn't exactly play the part!

It is a sweet romance, great characters. A strong, educated woman, single mother trying to make it in her world. Get a Genie, named Gene is a funny way. I laughed and cried with the story. The genie twist was new and inventive.

Book 1 of the series
The first time I saw this was at a bookstore. I wasn't really impressed with the first few pages; but then I saw it at the library. Free read! I was surprised but how much I liked the story.

Book 2 of the series
More irritating than the first in the series. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of these.

I liked the writing and the storyline. The descriptions were just deep enough to make the story believable, but not so deep as to annoy me. However, I really hated the main character. I found her to be weak and fearful and she whined an awful lot, especially for a vampire. In the end, the book was just ok.

Ugh. Not great. I love fantasy, and I like romance books where the romance isn't necessarily the only thing propelling it, so I was hoping this book would be like that. Unfortunately, our protagonist is almost anti-feminist in her attempts to assert herself and wavers back and forth so quickly at the slightest motivation that I really didn't care much if she ended up with her guy. She actually said the words "If you don't know why I'm mad at you, I'm not going to tell you." Ew... Finn tries to elevate the book above a simple romance by over-quoting classic literature and trying for eloquent descriptions, but I didn't really feel that it worked. Gene's great though--I enjoyed the manly Australian genie being kind and devoted and doing the dishes. Can I have one?

This was entertaining enough while I was reading it, but once finished I've never had any lingering interest in it. Even when the rest of the series started coming out, I was perfectly content to leave it alone.½

Daphne is a vampire, speaks several languages and has spent her many centuries evading authorities until the US government decide to recruit her. Darius della Chiesa is a vampire hunter determined to kill her. They find themselves attracted.

It's pretty predictable and pretty ho-hum for the genre.

"Best Wishes Always" is author Lucy Finn's third 'genie' book and the second I've read by this author who also writes paranormals under the name Savannah Russe. These books are much sweeter and lighter than her paranormal fare and fun, feel-good escape read.

Antique dealer Larrie is having a hard time getting back to normal after the death of her young-love, sweetheart, soldier fiance in the Middle East. She's having a hard time shaking her depression, but when she gets an unbelieveably good deal on an estate she starts to perk up. Then she polishes the lamp that was the deceased's prize possession...and now she's got a genie!

Interesting that the genie in this book is a British one. He was cursed into genie servitude during the 1800s while in India and has to learn to love and think of others to break his curse.

Fun, sometimes funny, and a fairly quick read. There's some time-travel, a bit of a mystery, a quickie secondary romance, a dotty grandma, an elephant, dogs, goats, a tiger, orphans, and mobsters. This is a book I would have no problems letting a teenager read.

Beyond the Pale contained a interesting storyline that I believe was interesting in content. Though, I spent the whole book feeling the book was lacking in character build up and setting for this story. While reading this story I felt that it had no emotion. A wonderful book is one that you feel yourself taking the ride with the character, this book gave me the impression that I was watching it from afar and no where new the center of the story. l do not look for myself tme.continue with this series. Althoug, this was the first writing that I had read by Savannah Russe and I will not write her off at this tie.½
