Much of this book is light and chatty, which is deceiving, because in places the author suddenly becomes deadly serious about politicians and the foolish decisions they can make. Jean Kennedy Smith, Bill Clinton, Warren Christopher, and others get a critical treatment from a person who has observed their decisions from close hand.
Raymond Seitz was the American Ambassador to Britain for three tours of duty in the 1980s/90s; he really likes the country and this book of memoirs is a funny, cool, clear-headed look at us and our way of life.
