Relevant context: I am a social scientist though I work mostly on quantitative experiments, not ethnographies.

Pros: Great exposure to a subculture, digs in deep to issues of race, interesting and previously uncovered historical scholarship about spelling as a nationalization project

Cons: The focus on the race, while fruitful, neglected the intersection with class, which left many parts of the extrapolation she does to all of "Gen Z" feeling incomplete.
