This is the third book of Janine Shepherd’s that I have read and like her other two books she didn’t disappoint with this one.
Throughout her recovery in the aftermath of her accident, Shepherd got inspiration and encouragement from many people some of whom she has shared the thoughts of in this book. In addition to this she journalled as a way of healing herself. She then put a number of these quotes and reflections into Reaching for Stars.
Reaching for Stars is a very easy, enjoyable and quick read (I read it in a day) written in such a way that the reader can flick through the pages to a quote or reflection which speaks to the problem or issue that they may be finding themselves in at that time. I found much encouragement and help from its pages. There were also times when I found myself laughing. For example, when Janine was asked what book she was writing, to which she replied that it was an autobiography, to this Janine was asked who it was about.
This is a book that I would happily read again and again.… (meer)
A very inspirational story about an ultra competitive athlete whose life is radically changed after a serious bike accident. Well written and easy to read, Janine's story will make you realise that nothing is impossible if you want it badly enough
