- Donald Smith taught Canadian history at the University of Calgary from 1974 to 2009. Born in Toronto he was raised in Oakville, Ontario. He obtained his Honours BA in Modern History from the University of Toronto, his M.A. from Université Laval in Quebec City, and his PhD from the University of Toronto. His publications include four biographies and a history of Calgary.
