Good story.
The tense was a bit mixed up.
It seemed to jump to present tense a couple of chapters in, which was a bit odd.

"Staring over his shoulder at Abel who watches confused, Kasin rolls his eyes when the large man pushes aside Kasin to inspect the receiving room before his Sheik could enter."
Then
"Even the village folk stare in shock as Kasin carries a struggling Amira over to the awaiting SUV."

He marries her, then leaves her, for her safety.

It was an interesting twist on a troupe that's been done before particularly in mills and boon titles that the Hero and heroine have a marriage but he is incapable of love but in this book, he loved her once, as they grew up together and have happy childhood memories but the atrocities of his country have left him jaded so he is insecure if he can feel love again.
There is a huge lack of communication esp concerning the state of the country which leads her to not understand his motives and actions.

Secondary characters appear from previous books in the series.

Spoilers regarding their time of separation below.

The accusation of cheating is convincing but "Amira asks the question she’d been asking for years, “The women?”
Snorting, Kasin shook his head in denial. “Actresses. Paid to make it appear as though I was a playboy Sheik with no strong, romantic ties. I never slept with any of them, Amira, I swear it.”

During their separation on his reuniting with her this is said...

"Kasin knew he was attractive. Women threw themselves at him on a daily basis. But now, he wore his ring once more. He was a married man. His mistresses had all been released. There would be no one else for him. Unless Amira got her way and ended their marriage."

"If she had known, when Kasin had asked for her hand, that he would abandon her for five years, cheat and whore his way about, then she would never have agreed to marry the man she had loved as a child."

"“I never wanted to hurt you, Amira,” Kasin murmured as she stared up at him in confusion and a bit of fear leaching from her violet eyes. Those women, they were nothing to him. He didn’t even remember any of their names. They were a means to an end. A way to distract his enemies away from Amira. She was his wife and they were nothing to him. To his enemies, Amira would have been the perfect bait for the new Sheik of Masarat.
“You did anyway,” Amira whispered. “You tore me into pieces when you cheated with that first woman and all the rest for five years.”"
He has no explanation.

It takes forever for them to really talk, I really felt that was dragged out.

HEA.
Breadcrumbs dropped for the next book.
