Gabby, daughter of a minister and his devoted wife, was a follower, a writer, the sensible one. In college they met Jonathan and Sonny, also best friends. The two couples married and remained close. Both couples decided against having children, but at age 38 DeeDee decided she wanted a baby. The next few years tested their friendship. DeeDee eventually conceived, had the baby girl of her dreams, and shortly thereafter was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. This riveting story, told from Gabby's standpoint, and with a welcome sense of humor, explores the bonds of friendship and the heartbreak of Alzheimer's.
