Very difficult book to read for all the abuse, but all together a well written novel. The main character was well developed and a bit dark for my taste. I did wish for more information about a background into Xander's parentage, maybe another novel?

This is the prequel to Crimson Shadows. I'm amazed how well written this book is. I have to admit that this type of read is so not my normal read and that in parts I am disgusted and intrigued. The author truly has a dark mind!!
This prequel is about Elizabeth who has a gift that every night she sees images and scenes that through her art come to life. She sees a vampire in all the blood, horror, and glory. Can she portray what she sees??

He has had an abusive upbringing, but there is so much more to the story. As his eighteenth birthday approaches, he gets caught up in the supernatural world and learns his true destiny. Poor Xander. His father missing. His mother murdered in front of his eyes. Now, someone wants him dead. Thank goodness, he has a couple supernaturals by his side, getting him ready to face the biggest challenge of his life.
I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy this, seeing I think it was written for a younger audience, but the more I read the more involved I became. This is the first book of seven and I would love to watch him grow and become the man he is meant to be.
