I think the cover and title are awful, but I actually loved learning more about the enneagram in this book. It's full of humor and hard truths and helped me understand some of my own challenges and others' choices better. The structure worked with, introducing each type and explaining how their childhood, work, relationship, etc. can be affected by their type. It warps up each one with a list of ways they can work on spiritual growth and making healthier decisions.

I'm new to learning about the enneagrams, and this seems like an ok place to start for beginners, but I wish it would have went a little deeper. I'm still not entirely sure which type I am. I think I'm a 1 wing 9, but I also kind of resonated with type 3. Like I said, not a bad place to start, but I'd definitely recommend finding something else to dive deeper.

I tried reading this when it first came out but didn't really get into it until I recently heard the author speaking on a podcast, so I thought I'd check it out again. I like that she doesn't try to break down all the numbers again as she expects you to know yours already and instead talks about how your number can handle stress better. I also liked hearing about "stance" as I don't think it's mentioned as much in other books on the Enneagram. I still want someone to explain where this "ancient" wisdom came from considering apparently no one talked about it until the 1960s (I also really need someone non-Christian to explain to me why it's the only woo that the Christians will accept...), but I do still think the Enneagram is a great way to learn more about yourself and this book is a good addition for that.… (meer)

This is an excellent, down to Earth, not to heady approach to the Enneagram. It is the book I might hand to someone who wants to learn about it. It is helpful to know your number as you can skip right to that chapter, but a good overview for those just learning. Every enneagram teacher has different labels for the numbers, so be ready.
